Why should I log my play session?
The Adventurers League play format simply requires you to keep a logsheet of your character’s games for each session you play with that character. If you think of your character sheet as a record of who your character is and what they can do, your logsheet is the official record of what your character has done. There are also limits on how many powerful magic items your character can hold dependent on their level.
Your logsheet can take any form you choose, (document, spreadsheet, pdf, app, etc.), as log as you update it at the end of each game session, and bring it with you along with your character sheet when you play to show to your DM.
What should your log contain?
Start with general information at the top of your log to identify your character, and include it with your character sheet.
Fill in each line of your log at the end of each of your sessions with updates for the following. (Include a 0 on a line if you did not earn something in a particular session)
- Date Played
- Adventure Name & Code – (include Session # if your game spanned multiple sessions)
- DM and location played
- Level – Starting and ending level, plus indicate if you accepted a level at the completion of the session
- Gold – Starting and ending total, plus amount gained or spent
- Downtime – Starting and ending total, plus amount gained or spent
- Magic Items – New characters begin with 0 starting permanent magic items. Number of permanent magic items your character holds; record the name of the item in the adventure notes area. (Remember to include consumables)
